Vehicle registration

In order to be able to register a vehicle or to import/export it in/from Zambia, whether it is brand new or used, the applicant must provide, together with the corresponding Application, a set of Supporting Documents, depending on the purpose pursued. So:

1. When choosing to apply for Customs Clearance Certificate (a ZRA electronic service), the required Supporting Documents are:
2. When choosing to apply for Interpol Motor Vehicle Clearance (a Zambia Police electronic service), the required Supporting Documents are:
   
   
   • ZRA Receipt (obtained from ZRA)
   • Supplier Invoice
   • Release Order (obtained from ZRA)
   • Motor Vehicle Physical Inspection (RTSA)
   • Motor Vehicle Physical Inspection (Interpol)
   • Export certificate
   • Evaluation Paper (obtained from ZRA)
   • Customs Clearance Certificate (obtained from ZRA)
   • Bill of lading
   • Applicant’s National ID or Passport or Driver’s License
3. When choosing to apply for Vehicle Registration (an RTSA electronic service), the required Supporting Documents are:
   
   
   • Valid Insurance Cover Note
   • Physical Inspection Report
   • Interpol Motor Vehicle Clearance (issued by Zambia Police)
   • Customs Clearance Certificate (issued by ZRA)
   • Copy of the Identification of the Owner/Importer
4. When choosing to apply for RTSA's Motor Vehicle Licence ("Road Tax") electronic service - no supporting documents are required.
5. When choosing to apply for Physical (Safety) Inspection of the Vehicle (an optional RTSA electronic service intended only for used cars) - no supporting documents are required.
